Subscription Changes in the Next Month

Hey Everyone

Wanted to give you all the heads up there will be a change to subscription settings starting 30 days from now.

We have the $7 subscription for free shipping and $10 filament. We wanted to make sure that it was a great deal for people that regularly need filament. The point of it was to create predictability about how much filament we need to make each month. But there has been a lot of abuse of it. Folks ordering the sub and then canceling immediately after their order.

We want to dissuade this a bit so we can keep the efficiencies to keep the cost down and make sure that we are delivering reliably (The random orders throw our projections out of whack). So the monthly subscription will be increasing to $9-$10 per month.

But we don't want to whack subscribers that have been using it consistently and honestly.

So we will be introducing an annual subscription for $65 dollars for people that need filament on the regular. It will still be for $10 filament and free shipping on every order. (We are also attempting to remove the order quantity cap so print farms can fire up again. (But that may go into a business subscription)

Thank you all you have been with us as we continue to drive down the cost of filament.

Onward and Downward.

If I could make a suggestion, upping the price will do the opposite of what you want and only encourage people to bulk buy for a month then leave. Maybe instead have a reducing subscription (starts at $10, next month $9, next month $8 etc.) this way you encourage people to subscribe for longer while not "punishing" (for lack of a better term) your long term and consistent subscribers.

I actually tried to become a member a couple months ago but site was telling me you weren't taking any new members, I'm finally able to be a member, I was able to make one order I'm ready to order again like 2 weeks later I cant and, my sub is going up. I dont run a kind of print farm I do this as kind of a hobby but I make alot of functional things with my printers and sometimes the jobs require alot of filament

FYI, I ended up creating and cancelling a membership (without ordering) because there was no way to see the products without signing up for a membership. Being able to look through the products and prices, even without the ability to buy, would be really helpful.

Why aren’t existing subscribers (more than 1 month) grandfathered in on the $7 pricing? Why am I being punished for others actions when this is the model that you created tangled?

I agree with this. Grandfathering is a thing for a reason.

As someone whos been looking at this for a while now, but never subbed since I don't really use dozens of rolls constantly, the main thing keeping me from subbing is the subbing itself (even thou the price is very fair)... like I don't order enough to justify consistent subbing. Is it possible to have a 1 time payment for like 5-7$ to order a 1 time small amount (like less than X (lets say 12) amount of rolls)? Or hell, if that isn't possible due to the low filament cost (sorta like costco memberships), why not have a flat fee payment (lets say about the price of a monthly sub) for people who don't want to sub? That way…
