So we were scrolling instagram today and saw this add. Looks like a good deal you should get some while it lasts.
They are selling filament for 9 bucks a kg with free shipping. "But Tangled is selling filament for $15 bucks and only has a target for $10." Yep!
Here is why this doesn't bother us. And we are even willing to share this with you. (We might make filament deals a regular thing)
Tangled was started to force manufacturers to drop the cost of filament. If that is happening...I guess "your welcome." We are being successful.
We are a US-based company so it would suck if we were still more expensive than a chinese brand. Mainly because that means that the US is not competitive. We like being a low budget supplier in the US of good quality filament at a good price. But we do not put "Made in the USA" anywhere on the packaging because you should buy it as a good product and not get taxed for patriotism. That is just lazy US manufacturing.
So do we suck at our job? Nope!
These deals come up all the time. Companies liquidate their inventory at a loss or break even. That is not sustainable or long term. They can't price all their items like this all the time.
We never do sales. And never will. If an item is on sale it means the company is lying about the price normally. (Or being stupid, or selling off overstock) We price as low as we can sustainably price. So that we can keep making it into the future. We want to help build a supply chain that large print farms can start to rely on. This can't happen if people are trying to chase down sales rather than buying a pallet at a stable and predictable price.
We also don't sell packs of 10. We ship packs of 3, with filament and free shipping. It costs a lot less per spool to ship10 spools. We could do this too. But not very many people want 10 spools of whatever. We might introduce it in the future. But it is a shortcut to 10 dollars and not a real action. 3 spools everyone can order. And more people need. It lets us get more reach and stay focused.
So are we worried about other low cost filaments. No. They are either unsustainable sales or different models. That is great. But it is not our model and does not help or hurt us on the journey to selling a single spool of filament for $10 with free shipping.
(But really you should probably buy some of the kingroon white. It is a good deal if you can store the filament)
